Before you begin Continuing Education classes, also known as Continuing & Professional Development (CPD), here are a few policies about attendance, registration, and background checks that you’ll need to know.
Students enrolled in the Continuing and Professional Development Division’s Continuing Education courses do not have to be admitted into San Jacinto College’s academic/credit side. Some Continuing Education courses are “linked” and are held in conjunction with academic/credit courses. Should a Continuing Education student complete a “linked” course and decide to enroll in a certificate or degree on the academic/credit side, they will receive credit for the “linked” course they completed. Enrollment in “linked” courses is limited and is on a space-available basis. Students enrolled in “linked” courses are TASP/THEA exempt. “Linked” courses will adhere to the stated CPD refund policy.
The programs we have at San Jacinto run far and wide. Browse through ALL of our programs, including individual continuing education courses.
Some programs require these checks and screenings. Learn which may apply to you.
A criminal background may keep you from being licensed by the State of Texas. If you have a question about your background and licensure, please speak with a faculty member or department chair. You also have the right to request a criminal history evaluation letter from the applicable licensing agency.
A criminal background check is required to participate in a clinical assignment. This is a requirement of all clinical facilities in the Houston/Gulf Coast area, as mandated by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The approximate cost of the screening is less than $60. Background check through Precheck.com is required at time of registration.
Drug screening through Precheck.com is required at the time of registration for the phlebotomy program. The approximate cost of the drug screening is $50.
